As a "reformed" Off-topic spammer, I don't envy you Stalker. But I know you'll do good work.

I agree with the game limit and as much as I loved the Off-topic thread(s), there really isn't a reason to keep the old ones around. For those of you worried about losing it, ask yourself how many times have you gone back to look at it? I know I haven't and some of my best quotes are in there.

For the game threads, I would say any games that promote one word answers not be allowed. That should make the list very short.

Well, here's a list of the games that I find to be very entertaining and could be a candidate to be kept:

Rock Paper Scissors - Sure, it can be one word answers, but it does promote thinking =/
License Plate - It's decent, uses three words, can get pretty silly I suppose.
How you will die - Fun game, needs description to get an answer.
Bar Room Fight - A violent off-topic thread?

And some that promote some serious spam:
The guy above me - I mean, come on.
Word Association - Some associations are just plain bad.
Kiwi - No.
Vending Machine - Just, no.
What are you listening to right now? - Doesn't really do anything, is a real post filler.

Then there are the ones that are impartial to me:
Ask a dumb question, get a dumb answer - The same questions keep appearing
What would you do? - Same thing.

Just some thoughts.

Uhhh...my opinion:

5 Games is good enough.

Closing a thread at 5,000 posts? But, but, what about the Off-Topic threads? Let the thread die on its own, or in the case of the OT threads, nuke it when it reaches a specified number (like the last one, 750 pages)

Subcatagories for other games, and stuff like that would be a good idea. But, not too many, since that would be over-organizing...

Flagging anyone that reaches 5,000 posts for spam.

Stricter regulations on spam; i.e. deleting random crap.

That's all I've got for now...

I vote deletion.

all posts in deleted threads are gone too, they don't magically linger somewhere. so yes, post count down.

5 forum games? definately since most are copies of the original

see who you play topic shouldn't be nuked since people enjoy knowing who plays on that character in GW but duplicate pics etc should be deleted to save bandwidth for the site

the off-topic conversation topic should be kept we need to converse random subjects or to say hi etc every once in a while

Rock Paper Scissors, License Plate game, Bar Room fight, See how you die, and corrupt a wish are the candidates to be kept IMHO.
BTW any topic that promotes one word replies should be taken care of and same goes for any variations of rate the avatar topics

closing or an autoclosure of a thread at 5,000 posts would be great since no one has the time to go through every page and it's wasting valuable space

To encourage discussion on world events, other gaming news, and topics of interest, I would say where you describe what the forum is for , just input of something of the lines like "gaming news and world events discussions and appealing topics" to "An amalgamation of the inane. Off-Topic."

Hey thats not fair to say crap about me! I would probably still be fairly powerful. But i would rather not find out. And ya thats not cool. Dont delete the thread games that are decided to get rid of just CLOSE them. It would keep everyones post count the same, so no one would complain about it. I know i would be MAD if my post count dropped because the games were detelted instead of just closed. So please, just close them. *puppy face*

There is no real reason to keep threads that are locked around, they are just taking up space. You're not the only one that will loose a massive ammoutn of post counts, check the OT Trois, and who the top posters are.

Deleting threads that are locked just collecting dust will reduce the lag, im sure the old Deux is locked up somewhere, and that probably needs to be deleted too.

I've always been like this, theres just no real reason to show it if there is no need, but when there is a need, then it's time to use it.

There are Archives somewhere on this thing, which is probably the biggest source of forum lag on this forum, so adding a 750 page thread (OT Deux for example)to an archive wouldent help it very much.

Thats what happens to them once they get pushed back so far. What they could do is lock those threads then shorten how many pages the OT forum has until it goes to the Archive. ATM its like 8-10 pages before a thread goes into the Archive. So if they close the threads, shorten the pages to 4 pages, in about a week they would be in the archive, then they can either move the max amount of pages back up or leave it at 4 to keep it smaller so it uses less bandwidth.

I think the archive basically means that in X amount of days of the thread being in their it is deleted but post counts are left alone.

You dont understand, these post are like my baby! lol I honestly have put a ton of time into some of these post. It would suck if they were just deleted. Their is no archive so they will eventually be deleted anyways. If they jsut close them and let them slip to the end and get rid of themselves it will do the same thing as jsut brutally ripping them out of existance!

If they want to save a ton of bandwidth do away with the See Who Ya play thread or just make a new one. So much bandwidth is wasted in their.

And ya i am attached to my post. Its kinda one of those things where you can say, ya i did reach the last title on here. A thing of pride for me.

Good, they need to get rid of pictures that have been posted too often. Especially ones that are used in quotes. Those really hurt.
